We’ve been very strategic in our holiday planning – one thing you can do today is sign up to British airways household Avios account, where you can add the whole family and collect air miles pooled together to use as you wish. It’s free to register and points don’t expire any time soon. We’ve managed to get very cheap flights for the whole family (at good times in the day). Top tip – use the BA app for this – it’s far more superior to the website for redeeming points effectively.
Keeping Them Busy With Activities
The key is just enough to keep them busy, but nothing too complicated that it causes frustration or they lose all the pieces. Start with the non-screen time activities, then whip out those wireless headphones and neck pillows and enjoy the peace – guilt free! Be Practical and Prepared
Yes, pretty bags look good in the airport, but the reality is backpacks for both adults and kids are a god send, make sure they meet the size requirements and you can fit so much more in. We travelled to France with ONLY backpacks this weekend – it can be done! Inflatable foot pillows for smaller ones are amazing, and hanging toy bags for the back of the seat allow easy access. A Good Read is Essential
I read more books on holiday than any other time, with the kids often occupied and no long to-do list, it’s the perfect time to allow yourself some “me” time – ideally with a cocktail on the side! View my full list of summer reads >
Sunscreen Saviours
I featured this earlier in the month, but it’s so important and can make getting ready in the mornings so much less stressful. I highly recommend investing before you travel with brands you can trust – and sand resistant is a winner too!
Mosquito Miracles
If you haven’t heard of Avon’s skin so soft yet, it really is a miracle spray. It is so much kinder to skin that any of the chemicals sprays, and smells much nicer – don’t ask me why, but mosquitos hate it. I was dubious at first but the reviews sold it for me. I also use it on my kids too, and it’s an added moisturiser for sun soaked skin – win, win!
