Kefalonia with Kids

Greece has never let me down.  Weather, food, people, beaches…. yes yes yes.   For the May half term of 2018 we went to Kefalonia and found the PERFECT place to stay.

Villa Thalassini is unquestionably stunning, luxurious and at affordable prices we knew this was the place for us.  For the first time we also decided to take my mum and my mother in law with us.  Recipe for disaster?  Not at all!

Villa Thalassini is a secluded luxury villa in Agia Efimia, with breathtaking views to the endless Ionian Sea.

This superb villa is situated on a quiet hillside of the idyllic harbour of Agia Efimia. Its  unique location offers complete privacy, quietness and fabulous sea views of the endless blue Ionian Sea, the bay of Sami and the neighbour Island of Ithaca.

It’s a magical place, ideal for spending relaxed time with family and friends. The house is about 140 sq.m, fully air-conditioned, individually decorated and finished to exceptionally high and modern standards.   The villa sleeps 6 people and has 3 bedrooms, ample living space inside and out and a private swimming pool by the BBQ outside areas.

I would strongly recommend to hiring a car as the villa’s entrance is a little bit off the beaten track as it’s beautifully private – but this also give you freedom to travel around the beautiful island and experience the best of the beaches and restaurants which are about 15 minuets away

I’ve pinpointed all the places we went to in Kefalonia inducing the villa, airport, beaches, restaurants and some tourist attractions.  Click on the icons to the map to see more…

The food in Greece is so fresh and colourful.  The fresh prawns at
Paradise Beach Restaurant
Pergola
Nefeli-Anait
Kastro Cafe
Tassia Restaurant
“The Mermaid”
Theodora’s Cafe
Assos

Some of the beaches we went to, like these one photographed in Myrtos are stoney than sandy so I suggest to take some beach shoes with you.  When we went in May there weren’t any sunlounges or parasols nor shops or toilets so take a packed lunch and water with you.  This wasn’t as daunting as it sounded – we had a great time there for a couple of hours before we headed off again in the car for lunch.  There are many beaches that do have these necessities but this beach was too beautiful to not take a quick dip!
Xi Beach
Assos Beach
Antisamos Beach
Myrtos Beach
Paradise Beach
Sea Rock
Averto Beach Bar Extreme Sports & Water Park
We also visited Melissani Lake Cave –  It’s absolutely stunning and great for kids and adults.  Lots of parking near the entrance of the cave and the boat rides take about 15 minutes.  The water is so inviting – so clear and beautiful some say it looks like the boats are floating.

We really want to go back to Kefalonia – it holds dear memories and the kids still go on about how gorgeous it was too!
