Bathroom Cabinet Peeping Tom’s

Question – Why do people feel the need to open other people’s bathroom cabinets? Are we trying to find a secret clue to a part of their life we know nothing about?  What do we think we’ll find? Are we that curious?

We hosted a dinner party recently at our place – and of course the panic tidy up commenced.  Not only do I clear up the toys, the laundry (clean and dirty), pick away at the squashed raisins embedded on the wooden floor, and scrubbed the bathroom from top to bottom,

But I also felt a need to clear out my bathroom cabinet – just incase I have a spying trespasser.

I’m not being paranoid – this has happened before.  I’ve had toiletries stolen from my bathroom cabinet… ok I hosted a house party in NY and invited half the population of Manhattan so I guess I was asking for trouble.  A far cry from a small supper with parents from the same school as my son.

My point is – people do it.  A good friend of mine (who will remain nameless) confessed that she’ll always go through someone’s bathroom cabinet at a dinner party/play date etc.

Be really honest with yourself – have you ever peeped into another persons bathroom cabinet?

We need to be prepared for these bathroom cabinet invaders – So I thought, you don’t need a dinner invitation to peer into my toiletries world – I can just write about them instead…? Let’s embrace the bathroom cabinet Peeping Tom phenomenon!

These are my few key items in my bathroom cabinet – some of the best priced and useful beauty products that I believe all mothers should have in their possession.

Cacay Oil

A model and celebrity must have! This new anti-aging oil is taking the world of natural skin care by storm.  Cacay oil is the best of the best when it comes to oils for your skin.  It’s 100% pure, incredibly rich source of Vitamin A, Vitamin E and essential fatty acids. It contains more Vitamin E than Argan Oil and more Retinol (a form of Vitamin A) than Rosehip Oil.

Baby Wipes

Nope – not for your baby this time… these are for you! I have been using baby wipes on my skin long before I had children.  The reason?  They are so gentle and ‘mild as pure water’ that if it doesn’t damage a babies bottom, then it won’t damage my skin.

Sitting in a make up chair for the last 20 years with endless products being prodded on my face, I’ve had to find products that I can use on-the-go from the studio to the airport which will soothe and repair my skin when there’s no time for a proper cleanse.

These wipes also remove eye make up – AND they are cheaper than your average beauty wipes with less chemicals in them.  Next time you buy baby wipes for your child – get an extra one for you too!  I think you can pick a pack up for £1 in some supermarkets.  Winner!

Dry Shampoo

Ladies – if this is not already in your bathroom cabinet, then now is the time to invest!  Dry shampoo is my saviour – all day long.  In the mornings on the school run to hide greasy limp hair , at photoshoots to get that extra texture to my hair, and in the evenings on a date night when I want sexier, fuller looking hair.

Batiste dry shampoo comes in miniature bottles too – great to pop in your handbag/nappy bag and an array of colours so if you’re a blonde or brunette the dry shampoo particles will blend in well to your natural colour hair.  Retailing at most high street chemists and superstores between £3-£5 for a 400ml bottle.

The Perfect Wash Bag

This is me hiding behind my MAMA bag courtesy of The Gray Store.  This folds down brilliantly and is kept in my bathroom cabinet ready for when I’m away with work or for the weekend.  The bag is a great size, washable, really cool design, 100% cotton and the perfect travel bag companion.  It fits all of the above products in it  – and some!  Retailing at £20, it’s the perfect Mothers Day gift!

Other things in my bathroom cabinet include hair bands, toothpaste/brush, cotton buds, cotton wool, bits of lego, goggles (not mine) some foam alphabet pieces and a partridge in a pear tree.

I’d love to know what you think of these products and if you’re thinking of trying any of them out.

None of these products have been sponsored – come on over to my place and take a look in my bathroom cabinet for yourself.

Thanks for reading and see you next week!
