Mama Still Got It! Got what?

Drum roll … my first blog post!

I know, I know another bloody blog right?  According to recent statistics 50,000 blogs are launched on WordPress every day.  So what makes mine different? Maybe nothing…maybe everything.  It’s for you to decide.  It’s basically up to you if  you think MSGI is worth subscribing to or not.  Don’t worry I won’t be offended if this isn’t your cup of tea!

Thanks for reading this far already – grab a glass of wine, kick back (when your kids are asleep) and enjoy the introduction read…

Hello and welcome! What do you think of my blog name?  Do you think you still have it?  And what exactly is it that we still have?  It can be anything you want it to be – Whether it’s keeping your witty sense of humour through the mild torture of sleep deprivation, getting your pre-baby body back, managing kids and going back to work, surviving as a single mother, perhaps dealing with short term baby blues or maintaining a healthy sex life with your long term partner – HELL YEAH you still have it.  The truth is, you never lost it… Every now and then, us mum’s (that’s you by the way) need to remind ourselves of our identity – which we all know can take some effort when you haven’t showered in days, have the remains of dried baby food on your jeans, speak goo goo ga ga on a daily basis or haven’t had a Brazilian wax since you fell pregnant – 3 years ago.

This blog is to remind you of YOU – Remember you?

My husband and I always said that our children would fit into our lives rather than the other way around.  We’ve stuck to this as much as we can, and it’s worked in our favour. Obviously we are dedicated parents to our two boys  –  they come first, but we’re a very close second.

Being a mother is hard work.  It takes it’s toll on your sleep, your looks, your weight, your relationship, your bank balance, your home, your patience, your boobs, your vagina, your emotions and your bladder control.  But I still love it.

When a child is born, so is a mother – and we go through so many changes which shouldn’t be ignored, as we too are going through some major life alterations.  You grew a person inside you for crying out loud!  You flipping rock.

If men had uteruses they would be bragging about them down the pub!

Becoming a mother inevitably means change.  Your body is different, sex is different, your relationship is different, your fashion choices are different, your priorities are different.  There are so many aspects of our life that we have to adjust to.  And don’t get me wrong, change is good.  I’m not the same girl I was 10 years ago and I wouldn’t want to be.  My ethos is to get better with age – we have to accept that we are getting older and luckily wiser, so let’s embrace this.

I’ve been working in the modelling industry for a long time (over 20 years) so I’m very aware that taking care of yourself, looking and feeling good inside and out is imperative for a woman’s longevity.  Trust me, I’ve learnt some priceless beauty hacks, fashion tips, general health and wellbeing knowledge, confidence boosters and above all else, how to laugh off negative vibes – and I’m excited to share this all with you on my blogging/vlogging journey.

My profession involves Photoshop and portraying a fantasy world.  Motherhood is the complete opposite.  Truth is, models are far from being flawless – and mothers are the real superstars!

I’m looking forward to getting to know you – please comment on the blog posts and let me know if there is anything in particular you want to talk about together.

Thanks

Louise xx

Think it sounds great! You’re right! I’ve changed and I’m not the same girl and wouldn’t want to be. But it’s so interesting bc I hear so many people say “I’m 40 and still feel 20 inside!” and I do feel so much younger than my chronological age. And I think 30 or 40 or 50 year mothers these days do seem younger than their counterparts appeared at the same ages from the previous generations.

Yes absolutely! My mother is turning 70 this year, and she looks like a 50 year old. Still has a great social life, full of energy and very hands on with her grandchildren. Hey I guess Nana still got it too!!
