With Halloween and half-term almost behind us, it tends to feel like full steam ahead to Christmas in this last term. The big day is just eight weeks away, but before the parties, events and shopping chaos kick off, now is the time to reset, take time for you and get organised to save some sanity!
Prep Yourself
As they always say, make sure you put your own oxygen mask on before helping others, this is what I’m talking about. Take time to de-stress and recharge those batteries before things get too busy…
- Book a Spa day at Champneys – they currently have 50% off Spa days, or 20% off gift vouchers to use at a later date or gift for a friend to join
- Organise a weekend away with friends – Even if it is for after Christmas, having that time allocated is great for mindset – I recently did this and stayed at Westcliff Whitstable – use code Louise10 for 10% off!
- Invest in a few essentials – I’m thinking reviving face masks, relaxing candles and a good book for escapism for when it’s needed
Advent Calendars
Is it just me or is it upsetting when the kids open theirs and you realise you don’t have one? I’ve decided this year I’m going to treat myself to one that will motivate me through December – do I go beauty or alcohol? Or perhaps both! I’ve included some for us and some great ones for the kids too (many currently on offer at Boots). Shop Advent Calendars >
Get Organised
- The Christmas planning notebook – go get one now! It was a gamechanger for me last year, and especially with my memory not always serving me well, it keeps everything together and my brain lighter.
- Have you booked Santa? I can’t bring myself to do it in Summer but I’ve also been in the ‘nothing much left’ situation too…
- The shared calendar – online or on paper, make sure your family have a joint calendar to avoid overlaps and fighting over childcare eek!
- The toy giveaway – I recently read that it’s the most important time of year to give toys away so those that need them the most can access them in charity shops, and also makes room for new ones to come
Struggling With Peri?
As anyone who is going through the stages of the menopause will know, it has a really great way of timing symptoms with when you need it the least…Have a listen to my recent podcast with Hello! changemakers for my tips for handling the change, motherhood and some brutal life honesty to make you feel better!
Small Business Shout Out…
Nursem, a fantastic skincare brand created by Nurse Antonia and her husband to produce effective products for those of us that wash our hands frequently (including little Bernie sized hands). As well as beautiful, skin nourishing products they also give back to their community with a month’s worth of hand cream donated to an NHS nurse with every purchase. Although they have grown over the last few years, it is a great one to feature as they have not forgotten who this small business was created for!
