It’s officially October, which means it’s Halloween month. Love it or hate it, the kids always have a blast!
Pumpkins on the doorstep. Sweets already hidden from small hands. The costume debates begin.
Whether you’re going all in or keeping it low-key, here’s everything to help you have a fang-tastic one — with as little stress as possible.

🧛♀️ Spooktacular Costumes
The high street has outdone itself this year. Witches, mini monsters, football werewolfs… and still plenty of K-Pop Demon Hunters knocking about.
I’ve pulled together the easy, affordable ones for big ones and little ones. No sewing machine needed, but kudos if you’re up for it.

🕸️ Halloween Home
A little step further than my Autumn pumpkin edit last week, this one is a bit more in your face Halloween for nearer the time.
Whether you’re hosting, trick-or-treating, or just want the house to look seasonal — I’ve found lovely reusable pieces that aren’t all tat.

💀 Face Paint Tips
I have to share this tutorial of my little Basil every year, gone are the days that he’ll let me do this anymore! Try these simple tutorials for quick, at-home face paint ideas – great for both kids and adults. And don’t forget the baby wipes for during and after…
🎃 Halloween Ideas
Half-term lines up well with Halloween again this year for many of us, so here are a few ways to keep everyone entertained and exhausted by bedtime:
- Visit your local pumpkin patch and pick their own (but set a limit!)
- Pop into garden centres – loads have crafts and haunted trails
- Head to theme parks like LEGOLAND Brick or Treat for spooky themed fun
- Host a mini Halloween party (apple bobbing and toilet roll mummy are the best)
- Plan a movie night – Hocus Pocus, Coraline, Goosebumps… whatever feels right.
- Add themed snacks. Ghostly sandwiches, mini pumpkins the lot. I love this spooky snack board by Together to eat!
Keep an eye out for my full half-term guide coming soon with the usual list of places kids can eat free, days out and ideas for all the family!

💛 Small Business Shout Out | Cornish Gems x Roarsome
If you’ve been following for a while, you may remember how much we loved our stay at Molesworth Manor with Cornish Gems last year. One of those trips the kids still talk about. So I had to share their new partnership with another small business.
Cornish Gems have teamed up with children’s outdoor brand Roarsome for October half term — and it’s genius!
Book a stay at a participating Cornish Gems property before 9 October, for half term (16 Oct – 1 Nov), use the code ROARSOME at checkout, and you’ll get up to two complimentary Roarsome Wet Weather Bundles (worth £115 each), sent straight to you before you travel. Each bundle: waterproof jacket, matching waterproof trousers, wellies with four designs to choose from. One less thing to pack. One less “do your wellies still fit?” panic.
And October in Cornwall is a fab time to visit — quieter beaches, autumn colours, rock pooling without the summer crowds, and eating out without the queues.

Drop a comment below and let me know anything you’ve seen that should be in my half-term special — or something you’d love me to include.
