Frightfully Fun Family Halloween

With Halloween just around the corner, it can feel like yet another occasion that brings us more things to do. From costumes to decorations and all the additional activities, it can be a great opportunity to be silly with the kids, but to make it a little easier I’ve put together some of my favourite Halloween picks, tricks and treats.

Spooky Costumes

Now who hasn’t used the sheet over the head ghost costume, and often the homemade ones are brilliant, but if like me, you’re strapped for time, supermarkets and high street stores are here for us. From the middle aisle of Lidl, to H&M and Sainsburys, you can easily please them all without breaking the bank. Shop Costumes >

Halloween Decorations

I can’t say I go anywhere near as big as @staceysolomon and her amazing displays (follow her from some brill DIY creations), but I do like some decorations to get us into the spirit and have some fun over half term! I try to pick up bits with a little style that can be re-used year on year. Shop Decor >

Easy Face Paint

My kids are obsessed by face paint, and Halloween is no exception, but with the delightful addition of fake blood. Here’s a tutorial for when you are faced with this inevitable task…have fun with it!

Things to do

With Halloween landing in the school holidays for us, I love that it gives us a good excuse for some fun days out and family time together. Here are a few ideas for getting spooky and keeping them entertained:

  • Find your local pumpkin patch and let them choose their own pumpkin
  • Visit your local garden centres which often offer Halloween crafts/hunts
  • Theme parks – most have theme days including our fave, Legoland
  • Host a party – DIY games, apple bobbing and Halloween themed chaos
  • Make themed food from witches fingers to Boo-nanas, and not forgetting the adult vampire punch – check these ideas
  • Movie nights – I love my Sky TV + Netflix combo for endless choices
